116 new children’s and juvenile books have been added to the Deer Park Public Library’s collection thanks to the Pilcrow Foundation. The Foundation awarded the Deer Park Public Library an April 2023 Children’s Book Project Grant. Lists of the titles are on the library’s website. Browse the lists here: Children’s Books, Juvenile Fiction Books and Juvenile Nonfiction Books.

This award was received thanks to the Deer Park Area Community who donated over $400 at our Spring Pancake Breakfast. With the 2 to 1 match provided by the Pilcrow Foundation grant, $800, we were able to purchase 70 books with a retail value of $1200.14. The library received 46 additional books through Pilcrow Foundation’s donor-sponsored programs. All books received are new, quality, hardcover children’s books.

From the Pilcrow Foundation:

“We recognize the importance of public libraries in rural communities. Libraries are often the center of the community, where people come together to learn and share ideas. Providing quality children’s books to rural public libraries ensures an opportunity for active engagement within the community and lifelong learning.

We know that reading to and with children every day and providing them with frequent opportunities to read on their own are important activities for literacy development. Literacy is the greatest gift we can give to our children; the public library is where we can start.”

Thank you to everyone for your support of the Deer Park Public Library.
